What is BizPaL? • BizPaL is an online web service that provides Canadian businesses with customized information on permit and licence requirements for all levels of government. • Initiated and developed by Industry Canada in 2003 with three pilot jurisdictions: • Whitehorse, Yukon • Kamloops, B.C. • Halton, Ontario • Currently in use in many municipalities across the country.
Governance • Partnership is managed by a Steering Committee of cross-jurisdictional partners. • Service Alberta and the City of Edmonton have seats on the Steering Committee. • Participating provinces are responsible for: • soliciting municipality participation and guiding implementation projects • paying the software licence fees
Value for Business • Saves time and money: • Manual search for information takes at least 6 hours – BizPaL takes 5 to 30 minutes • Information is available from a single source • Seamlessly re-directs users to the P & L issuers • Makes regulatory compliance with all levels of government easier • Available 24/7 • Streamlines new business growth: • Improves a process that is time consuming and prone to errors
