  1. Technology Timeline 1986-Present

  2. 1985 • The Windows operating system is released by Microsoft. • Nintendo releases the Nintendo Entertainment System.

  3. 1985 (Cont’d) • Affordable desktop publishing begins with the introduction of the Apple LaserWriter, the HP LaserJet, and software programs such as Aldus Page Maker.

  4. 1986 • Fuji introduced the disposable camera. • Digital Audio Tape introduced

  5. 1987 • The first 3-D video game invented.

  6. 1988 • Digital Cellular Phones invented.

  7. 1989 • High-definition television introduced. • The World debus as the first provider on dial-up internet access for customers

  8. 1990 • The World Wide Web and Internet protocol (HTTP) and WWW language (HTML)created by Tim Berners-Lee

  9. 1991 • The digital answering machine invented. • JPEG still picture compression standard introduced.

  10. 1991 (cont’d) • Wi-Fi was invented by NCR Corporation in the Netherlands

  11. 1992 • Adobe announces the release of PDF 1.0

  12. 1993 • Mosaic is developed by Marc Anderson at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). It becomes the dominant navigating system for the World Wide Web.

  21. 2006 • The Nintendo wii was made available

  22. 2007 • The successful release of Apple’s IPhone.

  23. 2009 • Windows 7 was introduced • All television broadcasts in the U.S are now digital.

  24. 2010 • Adobe Photoshop CS5 is released April 30, 2010. • Microsoft first releases the Kinect for the Xbox 360 in November 4, 2010.

  25. 2011 • Microsoft announces plans on May 10, 2011 to acquire Skype for $8.5 billion in cash. • Steve Jobs passes away on October 5, 2011 (Age: 56)

  26. 2012 • Pinterest is made available to everyone August 10, 2012. • Apple iPhone 5 and IPad mini goes on sale.

  27. 2013 • Sony releases the PS4 November 15, 2013. • Apple introduces iOS7 on September 18, 2013.
