Advocacy Oregon House passes bill regulating police drones A bill regulating the use of drones for police work easily passed the Oregon House Monday, the first step toward establishing a broad statewide policy on the use of unmanned aircraft. which outlines that police officers need to obtain a search warrant in order to use a drone to gather evidence, except for in emergencies. In addition to clarifying drone use for police, it will also keep the door open for Oregon’s burgeoning drone industry and “give citizens assurance that their right to privacy will stay intact,” Huffman said. The bill does nothing to restrict the recreational use of drones. The bill passed 52-7.
