EMTA Workshop – 05.11.2009, Warsaw Fare attractiveness (2) 2008-2009: changes in fare system and first fare rise since 2001 New ticket types: 20-, 40- and 60-minute tickets, that enable change (average trip: 44 minutes, 1 change) Two-weekly tickets Yearly ticket for pensioners for a reduced price At the moment, there is a full range of ticket types from 20 minutes up to 3 months (and a year for pensioners)

The old trams and buses have a high floor level and are not accesible for everyone Huge needs for modernization to increase the attractiveness of public transport

EMTA Workshop – 05.11.2009, Warsaw There are two practiced ways of fleet modernization: New fleet bought by municipal operators on credit – in-house, long-term contracts serve as bank guarantee (4 operators, 4 contracts) New tenders on bus services for 8-10 years – the operators have to buy new fleet according to the requirements of the tender (at the moment 3 operators after 8 tenders) Ways of fleet modernization
