  3. Supplies Needed • Oven • Large Mixing Bowl • Small Mixing Bowl • 2 Mixing Spoon • Cookie Sheet • Timer • Cooling Rack

Ingredients Needed • ½ cup shortening • ½ cup peanut butter • ½ cup packed brown sugar • ½ cup white sugar • 1 egg • 2 tbsp milk • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 – ¾ cups all purpose flour • 1 tsp baking soda • ½ tsp salt • ¼ cup white sugar for decoration • 1 bag milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped

  5. Step 1: Preheat Oven • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  6. Step 2: Mix Ingredients in Large Bowl • In a large bowl, cream together shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar. • Add egg, milk and vanilla. Mix well.

  7. Step 3: Mix Ingredients in Small Bowl • In small mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt. • Add to large bowl creamed mixture. • Mix all ingredients until stiff dough forms.

  8. Step 4: Shape Cookies • Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. • Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

  9. Step 5: Bake Cookies • Open oven door. • Place cookie sheet in the center of the rack. Close oven door. • Set timer to bake cookies 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.

  10. Step 6: Remove Cookies • Open oven door. Remove cookie sheet. Close oven door. • Top each cookie immediately with an unwrapped chocolate kiss, pressing down firmly so that cookie cracks around edge. • Remove cookies from cookie sheets using the spatula and place onto cooling rack.
