  5. How to protect hospitals? Situate, design, build safe facilities Assess, retrofit existing facilities Protect essential services Plan and train for emergencies Build partnerships

  6. Lessons learned: 1985 Mexico earthquake 5 hospitals collapsed, 22 damaged 6000 beds lost 561 people died at Juarez Hospital Today Hundreds trained in PAHO Hospital Safety Index Index applied in many health facilities
