Why Colleges Value IB • Can earn college credit for IB courses • Favors global curriculum • Extended Essay – prepares students for research skills and preparation of dissertations • Creates a public for a global society • Students finish college in four years. • Value of “whole package” • Encourages critical thinking • Emphasis on writing • Students are forced to exercise their weaknesses. • It is not “regurgitating facts.” • It is the GOLD STANDARD of academic preparation for college.

  3. Why Colleges Value AP AP students are more likely to complete college in four years. No AP…….29% One AP……45% Two+ AP…..61% The majority of students who took AP exams and graduated in four years had GPA’s above a 3.0. Students can earn college credit and high school credit for AP courses. From the COLLEGE BOARD

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Current Enrollment (2013—2014): 51 seniors (11 diploma and 40 courses) 34 juniors (16 diploma and 18 courses) Last Year (2012--2013: 41 seniors (17 diploma and 24 courses) 66 juniors (19 diploma and 47 courses) Current Demographics: 69% Female 31% Male 57% White/Caucasian 29% Black/African-American 12% Asian 2% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander 16% Free/Reduced Lunch 19% Advanced Placement Since 2004, we have had 110 diploma candidates. Of those, 80 (73%) have earned their diplomas.
