Los usos del imperfecto • To express repeated, habitual, and/or ongoing actions in the past. • To give descriptions: set the scene, provide background info (in the past). • To describe mental capacities (in the past). • To describe physical attributes (in the past). • To describe emotions (in the past). • To express ongoing actions (in the past). • To express habitual actions (in the past). • To express repeated actions (in the past). • To express age (in the past). • To tell time (in the past). • To tell what was happening when another action occurred (with preterit) • To indicate something in the past that hadn’t yet occurred. (anticipated past actions)

  5. 90% of the time… The imperfect is the tense you will need whenever, in English, you would say "was or were + Verb-ING" or "used to + Infinitive Verb." This is the "90%" rule and if you follow it, when making decisions on a quiz, you are likely to get a 90% . • Ejemplo: • She was talking. – Ella estabahablando. • I used to love her. – Yo la amaba.
