  1. December 10, 2012 Mrs. Compher’s Word Birds Classroom News Dear Families, Our elf, Jingle, has been a great addition to our classroom this past week! Jingle reports every night to Santa to tell of our good or not good behaviors. So far we’ve seen Jingle hanging from the lights, reading a book, writing a message on our board and cutting up a paper snowflake! We can only imagine what she’ll do this week! Our excellent behavior this week, has filled up our bucket! Today we celebrated by bringing in a stuffed animal to school with us and by watching Frosty the Snowman. The kids certainly deserve this special day! • This week we will be learning: • Meeting the letter Nn • Meeting a new sight word: to and was • Reviewing our sight words: I, can, we, the, like, a, see & go • Reading the stories: Apple Farmer Annie & The Goat in the Chile Patch • Informational text: From Strawberry Field to Strawberry Jam • Pre-decodable reader: “Tap It, Nan Min!” • Finding groups of 1 through 10 and identifying partners in Math • Identifying 10 groups within teen numbers in Math • Finding partners of numbers 2 through 6 in Math • Practicing how to write more clearly in Writing • Learning how to write for partners in Writing • Revising our writing with partners in Writing • December book orders should arrive soon! Thank you for your orders! • December 20 - Christmas party from 1:00-2:00pm • December 21- Pajama Party! Wear your pajamas to school • December 22-January 6 - No School/Holiday Break • ***Enjoy the Holiday season with your family! • January 7 - School resumes for staff and students • Please return all library books every Thursday so your child is able to check out another library book. • Wear your tennis shoes every Monday & Thursday for Gym. • Thank you for all of the shoe boxes! If you have any extras Mrs. Burke is still collecting them!
