  6. What is protectionism? • The theory or practice of shielding a country’s domestic industries from foreign competition by taxing imports. (Oxford dictionary) • Economics. the theory, practice, or system of fostering or developing domestic industries by protecting them from foreign competition through duties (Dictionary.com) • Any program, policy, or system of laws that seeks to provide protection for property owners, wildlife, the envrionment,etc (Dictionary.com)

Different perspectives • Costco’s perspective: Conglomerate has a fundamental right to be treated equally with others regardless of their distinctions such as property and status. • Domestic Government’s perspective: A small or medium sized business needsprotectionism to ultimately increase proficiency.
