  5. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATIONREQUIREMENTS • Earn a total of 225 credits • Pass specific subject requirements • Pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

  6. CREDIT REQUIREMENTS • 225 credits are needed for graduation • Students earn 5 credits for each class per semester, for a total of 30 credits a semester or 60 credits a year • Classes must be passed with a D or higher to get credit for graduation but a C or higher for college

WESTMOOR HIGH SCHOOL SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS ENGLISH- 4 years MATH- 3 years-including 1 Year of Algebra 1 SCIENCE- 2 years SOCIAL STUDIES- 3 years FOREIGN LANGUAGE OR FINE ARTS- 1 year CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION- 1 year PHYSICAL EDUCATION- 2 years HEALTH- 1 semester ELECTIVES- x number of units needed for graduation

  8. CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL EXIT EXAM (CAHSEE) • 2 Sections 1) English Language Arts (2) Math • Students must pass each section with a score of 350 or higher • Students will take the exam for the first time in February of sophomore year www.cde.ca/gov/statetests/cahsee

  9. 9th and 10th GRADES GRADES COUNT!! • Eligibility for college acceptance • Classes for the following year • GPA for honors/high honors at graduation is cumulative • Allows for qualification for honor societies, such as the California Scholarship Federation • Used for nominations to special programs and scholarships
