Me llamo Nuria, tengo 30 años.

  8. Nuria Rodriques Lamas Good morning to all persons in this Seminar. I have not prepared too much what I am going to say, but I don´t think I am going to get wrong too much.   I am going to leave my shyness behind And I try to tell you some experiences of my life. My name is Nuria and I am 30 years old. I work in a cafeteria and I have a daughter called Melanie who is 8 years old.We two live together in an apartment

  9. Nuria Rodriques Lamas MELANIE is one of the most important persons in my life. When I was a little girl, I attended a school at my neighborhood ; I had friends to play with, but, also, a lot of difficulties to learn. It was then when my mother was told that I had intellectual disability.

  10. Nuria Rodriques Lamas I grown up, started to work and had different jobs, I specially enjoyed working in shops but I have difficulties to handle with money . So, Time went by and I dreamed of having a couple, my own home, and my kids. I met a boy, he became my boyfriend and I got pregnant.

  11. Nuria Rodriques Lamas I was determinated to have my baby and her father did not say NO. And my daughter was born. We apparently were a family, but there was something that did not work. It seemed that he had the right to go out and have fun .Whereas I had to stay at home taking care of the baby and the housework. When Melanie was 2 y. o. I separated, and we both returned to Madrid.

  12. Nuria Rodriques Lamas Since then, I take care for her alone (*almost alone: my mother and sister live in Madrid too.) I havegone through difficulties to take care of Melanie, but they have nothing to do with disability. • .If I had a house for the two of us… (If I could easily pay a house for we two) • If I had a good job which timetable could be compatible with my daughter`s at school… • If I had someone who took care of her while I am working… …Then everything would be different!!!

  13. Nuria Rodriques Lamas Although I had gone through bad moments, but I have never thought to give up. It is said that violence means that you are hitten by somebody. However , I sometimes have the feeling of being broken, even when no one has touched me. I often have doubts about how to educate my daughter, but … Still I think that I am a “good Mother”

  14. Nuria Rodriques Lamas I am a good worker aswell (or at least )that is what people wherever I have worked have said”. I do belief that I am a brave woman. However, society makes things difficult to women like me.

  15. Nuria Rodriques Lamas That is why I don´t like the word “disability” appearing every single time that people talk about me. I am like other women; I do the same things that they/ you do, although, perhaps, in a different way. Thanks very much for your invitation and, overall for listening to me.
