AGM Reports • PEFAC is celebrating five years of our non-profit service to Prince Edward County! • Broad range of fitness and aquatics programs being offered • Very successful year of fundraising • Strong partnerships and volunteers • Maintained a responsible budget in spite of financial challenges • PEFAC is a not for profit organization run by the community and for the community

PEFAC’s Youth Programs • “Swim to Survive” program • 158 students participated • 7 out of 8 schools in PEC • 4th Annual Kids of Steel Triathlon held in June 2010 • 230 children participated • 40% from PEC • Success even with the rainy weather • ‘Day camps’ during summer, PA days and March Break • Public swims • Classes including ‘Dashand Splash’, ballet, gymnastics and ‘Tumble Tots’

Fundraising for PEFAC • Dinners/Raffles/Draws/Donations $8,206 • ‘Let’s Dance’ with the Reasons $5,000 • Hydro One Grant $1,000 • Contributions from service groups $2,250 • Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant $15,000 • Grocery Cards $1,000 • Swim to Survive Grant $1,974 • Total Cash $34,430 • 3557 volunteer hrs Next year: • Goal of $15,500 in-house activities • Investigating other fundraising avenues through grant applications such as PELA, OTF, Hydro One and other foundations in 2010-11

  10. Capital Needs for 2011 • Front doors $5,000 • Men’s changeroom & finish women’s showers $22,000 • HRV $22,600 • Water Fountains $5,000 • Total $54,600 • PEFAC will raise $27,300 and requests that PEC consider a matching $27,300 capital funding grant Women’s showers

Fitness & Aquatic Centre Committee (FACC) Report: • Working group to investigate the potential of securing a permanent site for a Community-owned fitness and aquatic facility in PEC • Group composition: • PEC Councillors, PEC Staff, • Directors and members of PEFAC, • Stakeholders including the medical community, • Citizens • Need feasibility study to evaluate business viability • Cost ~$35,000 • Applying for funds to support study

  13. Appointment of Auditor • Motion – • To appoint ‘Welch & Company’ as auditor of accounts of PEFAC for 2010-2011. • All in favour?

Summary: • Great staff and volunteers have made PEFAC a success • Strong partnerships: • Prince Edward County Council and the PEC Recreation, Parks and Culture Department. • Life Saving Society, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Relay for Life, Ministry of Health Promotion, PEC Family Health Team, Prince Edward County Marathon, Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, County Kids of Steel Triathlon Race Committee plus many other local service groups! • Support from local businesses: Bill Marten, Lawyer and Charlie & Cathy Thompson from Welch & Company Accounting • Lester Family - 5 year lease agreement for PEFAC facility has been accepted • Looking forward to the next 5 years!
