Daily Itinerary • 7:00 – 8:00 Breakfast in Curry Village • 8:30 – 9:00 Morning Meeting • 9:00 – 4:00 Learn, hike, journal and explore in Yosemite Valley, Lunch in the Field • 5:00 – 6:00 Dinner, evening program and lodging in BoysTown/Yosemite Valley • 6:30 -8:00 Evening Program • 9:30 – 10:00 Students in Cabins; lights out

  10. Wool, Fleece or Polypropylene Why wool and pile? When wet, wool and pile retain much of their insulating quality and keep you warm. That’s not true for down or cotton, which are useless when wet. Military surplus wool garments are often the least expensive warm clothes you’ll find. Synthetic polyester fabrics (with names like polar fleece, polypropylene, capilene, polarguard, fiberfill, polarpile and others) maintain insulating qualities even when wet, and they dry quickly. Do not bring only cotton clothing! Your life could depend on staying warm when wet. What to Bring…

  11. What to bring… • PERSONAL MEDICATION (need list of medications and dosages) • SLEEPING BAG & PILLOW • SUNGLASSES • LIGHTWEIGHT HAT WITH BRIM • WATER BOTTLES (min of 2) • FLASHLIGHT • PLASTIC BAGS • ALARM CLOCK

  12. BE PREPARED! • Come prepared to hike in a blizzard, in hot sunny weather, or in a rainstorm • Weather is variable. Layer materials (synthetics, polypropylene, pile or wool) for greater flexibility • Think Waterproof • Temperature changes throughout the day • January/February average temperatures: • Highs 40 degrees • Lows 20 degrees

  13. Paperwork • Registration and AA paperwork will be distributed in mid November. (AA STEM News web site) • Paperwork will be due on or before Jan 3, 2011. • Please make sure every item is filled out, including student and parent signatures.

  14. Medications • Students will be allowed to self carry and self administer all medications. • All OTC and Prescription Medications must be listed on paperwork. • Medications must be in original containers with dosage and frequency information. • Changes in medications must be communicated to Kristi prior to leaving.

Costs • Total cost per student: *$1,082.00 • - Yosemite Institute Tuition: $467.00 • - *Transportation Charter Bus:$ 95.00 • - *Chaperone/Admin $ 170.00 • - *Airfare $ 350.00 • Additional costs to include lunch to/from Yosemite and spending money. • Costs are estimated, based on 45 students attending. Final amounts will be determined in October. • Chaperone/Admin costs includes tuition and airfare.

  16. Payments Oct 24th $300.00 Nov 21st $400.00 Jan 3rd $382.00 or adjusted amt. • Payable to AA STEM • Late payments can cause removal from program.
