Chris Abani- On Humanity • The story was told in a deliberate monologue talking about numerous people and experiences that he has encountered in his life. • He had an unusual background and had a very interesting life. He was an African-British man who was in jail for several years, while being on death row.

  3. Elements • He kept this audience attention by showing his sense of humor. He told stories that were very uncomfortable for the listener, for instance sacrificing a goat. However he would mix in some funny parts that would keep the audience from being so disgusted that they tried not to listen. • He also made sure he got his point across about how the world needs to change, he has seen a man get sacrificed by nailing his penis to a boad which is not humane. He was very deliberate and visual with how he shared and described the stories.

  4. Sound • This story did not have sound. • I believe it lacking sound was actually a positive thing. • The stories being told were pretty gruesome and I can’t see how sound could have fit in to make the story more effective. • It was told in my opinion in the best way possible considering what type of subject the speaker was trying to attack.
