  1. The period 1945-1951 was this the Golden Age of the Welfare State in Britian. L.O: To look at how welfare was completely revolutionised by the Labour Government after 1945. To understand why some historians have referred to this period as the “Golden Age”

  2. How had “Blitz Spirit” demanded a better Britain? • Think about the two film clips we watched last lesson . • How were things going to have to be different after 1945. • What political change had made these differences more likely?

  3. Questions. From the article entitled: The welfare State: part 1. • Answer these questions: • In the article what does it state the war had highlighted? • Go to page 4 of the article. What had the expected cost of the NHs been and what was the actual cost? • What problems would this pose the government? • Now look at the Lowe article start with the paragraph BRITAIN 21.2 • When was the NHS act? How did health provision change because of it?
