  3. FBLA Meeting Monday, October 10 6 to 7:30 pm Meet at high school at 5:45 to convoy/carpool to Janie Wetzel’s • Costume Contest • Duct Tape • Celebrity Look-a-like • Most Creative Bonfire & Hot Dogs

  4. HOMECOMING (next week) Mon – “The Lazy Song” - PJ Day Tues – “Play that Funky Music” - Funk Day (70s, neon) Wed – “The Sweater Song” - Ugly Sweater/Clothes Day Thurs – “Grenade” - Fake an injury day Fri – “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” - Show your colors; Freshmen – white, Sophomores – Red; Junior – Blue; Seniors – All 3 Remember it must be school appropriate and no face painting or masks.  Each person dressed will earn Spirit Jug Points.

  5. HOMECOMING DANCE October 7th from 9-11 pm here at the High School.  It is an outdoor dance.  You MUST have your ID and not be on Red Card, even with a prepaid ticket.  There are no refunds on tickets.  Tickets will be on sale during Homecoming Week.  They are $5 bought at lunch & can also be purchased at the door.  If you are bring a date, you must pick up a form from the office and have it filled out by Wednesday the 5th!!!!!!

  6. HOMECOMING FLOATS Float Building is from 6-9 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 5-8 pm on Thursday.  You MUST have your ID to participate and not be on Red Card.  See your class officers for more details!

  7. HOMECOMING SHIRTS The Poms Squad is selling Homecoming shirts during lunch. Short sleeve shirts are $12 and long sleeve shirts are $16. T shirts are limited so make sure and gets yours!!

  8. WRESTLERS Open Mats be every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 until the season starts. See Coach Tuttle for details.

  9. Coming soon… Friday Care Packs What is it? A FREE sack of nonperishable, easy to prepare food and snacks to be taken home on Friday afternoons. For who?Anyone who could use some extra food over the weekends. How to sign up?See Mrs. Howard in the office.

MIZZOU Engineering High School Weekend When: October 7 & 8th, 2011 Costs: $75 (includes meals and all activities) Where: Mizzou Campus - Stay in either Gillette or Hudson Residence Halls Who: Sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in Engineering at MU. See your Guidance Counselor for more information!!!

  11. Announcement! Doug Hutcherson was named to FBLA’s North Central Executive Board.  In addition to his duties as FBLA State Secretary, he will be serving as the National Vice President’s Assistant.  Congratulations to Doug for your hard work and dedication.

  12. FBLA Shirts for Sale T-shirts are $10 Hoodies are $20 Sweats are $25 • Some sizes are limited, first come first serve. • We will place an additional order if necessary.

FBLA Members: Are you interested in developing your leadership skills and networking with students from all over the United States?   You have that opportunity!  Clinton FBLA will be attending the National Fall Leadership Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas in November.  If you are interested in going to this conference stop in and see Mrs. House or Mrs. Hutcherson THIS week.  Your $100 deposit and commitment form is due by Friday, October 7.

  14. The following college/universities will have a representative visiting CHS next week.  Sign up in the guidance office to visit with them.  October 3rd – 8:30 a.m. – Southwest Baptist University  October 3rd – 9:30 a.m. – Missouri Western University  October 4th – 12:30 p.m. – University of Missouri @ St. Louis  October 5th – 9:00 a.m. – Avila University  October 5th – 10:30 a.m. – Columbia College

  15. Spanish Club meeting on Wednesday (Oct. 5th) after school in Señora Huffman’s room. Refreshments will be served. Membership dues are $10. and need to be paid before October 28th. A special activity has been planned for October 28th. Pay your dues and find out what it is, it promises to be a lot of fun. T-shirts are $9.10, they will not be ordered until you have paid for them.

  18. Card System Anyone with 2 or more failing grades will be issued an academic red card. Students with red cards will eat in private dining, not be allowed any hall passes, and will not be able to attend or participate in any extracurricular activities or games. Grades will be checked weekly.

Rotary Youth Exchange Searching for applicants with the following qualities: Above-average academically Demonstration of leadership and interpersonal skills Independent and flexible enough to accept the challenges of living away from home for a year in a completely different culture Preliminary Applications are available in the guidance office

DECA members that want to “Get Wild” stop by room 213 and talk to Mrs. Allred or your officers about the trip to Omaha, Nebraska.  We will be traveling by charter bus and the conference will be led by our very own Micah Melling.  You don’t want to miss this opportunity to meet DECA members from our central region.

  23. DECA members wanting to take the marketing trip to Silver Dollar City need to stop by room 213 and talk to Mrs. Allred about signing up.  We need everyone signed up by Wednesday.

Staff Spotlight Mrs. Shannon Preston • Married to Jerad (6 years) • Son – Jack (17th months) • Dog – Roxy (Almost 3 years) • From outside Cleveland, Ohio and a HUGE fan of Cleveland Sports and Ohio State! • 4th year @ CHS.  • Moved to Missouri to teach. • Graduated from Kent State University. • “I love that every day and every hour is a new experience.  I am passionate about my subject and I think that come through in my teaching.  I try to connect the past to the present and make history relatable and interesting for lifelong learners.” Social Studies
