  2. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Overview Orange Grove Quarry is an old plant built in the 60’s. Systems to contain dust are relatively basic and inefficient. The screen house is the most modern part of the process and has a more sophisticated dust control system. Installation of systems such as foam dust suppression is impractical at this time due to pending plant upgrade.

  3. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy THEY DON’T WORK!! Dust extraction system There's only one problem……

  4. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Dust extraction system The dust extraction system incorporates a suction fan and bag filters to remove fine airborne dust. The system draws dust from the screens and discharge points. In order to work the extraction points must be sealed.

  5. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Example of containment

  6. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Traditional methods of dust containment on screens involves stretching rubber across held in place with rubber capping strips. This is a time consuming process that is prone to neglect, fatigue and ultimately doesn’t work very work.

  7. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy The improvement The plan is to adopt the easy tarp systems used on modern road trucks and fit them to the screens in the screen house.

  8. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy The improvement Initially the tarp will be controlled by a crank handle at ground level with plans for a motor to be installed in the future.

  9. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Progress so far Steel support structure has been installed on screens 6 and 7.

  10. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Progress continued.. Tarp is in production. Extraction system has been cleaned out and reconditioned.

  11. Building something great™ Screen house dust containment improvement Matt Hardy Benefits of improved system and dust containment Working dust extraction system. Improved working environment. Reduction in housekeeping. Reduction in time spent encapsulating screens and.. More time available for maintenance. Improved safety, no tools required. Reduced impact to the community.
