  3. This association the Ghanaunion was formed in July 2006 with the intention of bringing all the Ghanians living in Alava under one umbrella. As it says in our motto “together as one”. This association is non political, non tribal, non religious and non profitable. The association respects the rights of all its members. The women members also have an equal voice in what goes on in this association. The doors are open to anyone who wishes to join. Our aim are to be a source of assistance to all the members.   5. My main point in suggesting that education is important, is to emphasize That education has functions and purposes. Raising the question of Education is to specify how important Education is For each and everyone. First and foremost education is a necessity for everyone, and everyone should try to make an effort to get educated.

  6. Education. Has two basic functions.

  7. One important function of education has to do with qualification, which contributes to the acquisition of knowledge and skills. Skills That qualifies one for doing something. Which can range from something specific, such as training for a particular job, eg, Doctor, Nurse, Dentist, Engineer, or something general For example, Information Technology, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines which can open many doors and lead to a number of fields, eg, Programming, web design, software design, Cad design, application design. Cars and machine design. Electrical Control systems design etc. etc.

  8. A second function of education has to do with the ways in which, through education, Individuals can integrate and become part of the existing social and cultural environment in which they find themselves. For example, in the form of, character education, religious and cultural education.

  9. Everybody needs knowledge and skills in order to become employable. It is a well known fact the acquisition Of knowledge and skills are also important for other aspects of people’s lives. For example literacy – the knowledge and skills needed to communicate, behaviour and knowing how to apply themselves. Prepare yourself to be challenged and inspired.

  10. Conclusions In this short speech I have tried to make a case for the importance of education. We should acknowledge that we should put more effort into looking for information, more data, more knowledge,and or more research to get ourselves educated.

  11. Finally for me the question of good education does not stand on its own. I do believe That we are living in a time in which Education is one that we should all take very seriously. Good education should at least enable everyone to engage in crucial deliberations about the shape, form and direction of our collective endeavors. Thank you.
