  2. Mt. Zion Schools Demographics • Mostly rural • 3 schools: Mt. Zion Elementary, Mt. Zion Middle, Mt. Zion High School • Enrollment: 1,310 students K-12 • Economically disadvantaged: 72% • SWD: 14% • Gifted: 7% • ELL(ESOL): 3.3%

Zion Elementary School Goals Student Achievement • Improve student achievement in all grade levels while implementing CCGPS and GPS with fidelity • Increase percentage of exceeds on CRCT in core content areas • Decrease the achievement gap of SWD on the CRCT Stakeholder and Community Engagement • Increase Parental Involvement • Increase Business Partners Efficient and Effective Processes • Increase use of technology by teachers and students Continuous School Improvement • Provided additional collegial planning for CCGPS implementation to improve student achievement

Zion Elementary School Highlights Academics • Title I Distinguished School • Highest 5th grade Writing scores in the district • 55% of our 3rd grade students exceeded expectations in Reading • 69% of our 5th grade students exceeded expectations in Math • 50% of our 5th grade students exceeded expectations in Science • 86% of our Students with Disabilities met expectations in Math • MZE hosted its first summer STEM camp

Zion Elementary School Highlights Academics • 5th grade Writing Assessment scores were highest in the district • 97% of 5th graders met expectations in Math • 90% of 5th graders met expectations in Science • 88% of 5th graders met expectations in Social Studies • 97% of 5th graders met expectations in ELA • 94% of 5th graders met expectations in Reading • Scores in all content areas for 5th graders increased • Increase in SWD scores in 4th and 5th grade Math

Zion Elementary Opportunities for Growth Student Achievement • Continue to work to close the achievement gap with SWD students • School-wide initiative for Daily Spiral Review in Math Student and Stakeholder Engagement and Involvement • Increase the opportunity for extra-curricular activities for students Efficient and Effective Processes • Increase technology in the special education and gifted classrooms Continuous School Improvement • Expect Success

Zion Middle School Goals Student Achievement • Improve student achievement in all grade levels and core content areas by teaching the CCGPS and GPS with fidelity • Increase percentage of exceeds on CRCT in core content areas • Decrease the achievement gap between student subgroups on the CRCT Stakeholder and Community Engagement • Increase Parental Involvement and Volunteer hours • Increase Student Volunteer Hours • Reestablish an active Parent Teacher Organization Efficient and Effective Processes • Increase access to and use of technology by students and teachers Continuous School Improvement • Offer a quality learning experience for all students with the emphasis on having GREAT processes, procedures, people, and services

Zion Middle School Highlights Academics • Increased CRCT scores in 13 out of 15 areas from 2012 to 2013 • 6th grade CRCT scores increased in Exceeds category in ELA, Reading and Math • 7th grade CRCT scores increased in Reading, ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies • 7th grade CRCT scores increased in Exceeds category in Reading and Math • 8th grade CRCT scores increased in Reading, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies • 8th grade CRCT scores increased in Exceeds category in Reading and Math • 98% of 8th graders passed CRCT in Reading • 100% of students taking the High School Physical Science course in 8th grade passed the EOCT • Students in Flexible Learning Math Program increased CRCT Math scores from 0% passing to 72% passing

Zion Middle School Highlights Extracurricular and Fine Art Activities • State winner in the Nutrition Advisory Council Art Contest-Nicole Morris • Eagles Softball team were Champions of the WGMSAC Small School Division • Eagles Boys’ Basketball team were Champions of the WGMSAC Small School Division • Eagles Baseball team placed 2nd in WGMSAC Small School Division Championship • Carroll County School District Spelling Bee Runner Up-Dennis Bailey • Art student was selected as the State Winner and placed 2nd in the nation in Bus Safety Poster Contest-Mark Jarrell • Jessica Lusk was elected for and participated in District Honor Band

  12. Mt. Zion Middle School Highlights Other • Established an Eagles Serving Others program allowing students to volunteer at Mt. Zion Elementary • An active Parent Teacher Organization was reestablished • Math/Science Night and Literacy Nights were hosted by the Mt. Zion Cluster • Mt. Zion Middle hosted its first annual Fine Arts Night and Technology Night • Parent volunteer hours increased from 100 hours to 450 + hours in 2013 • 100% of classrooms at Mt. Zion Middle are equipped with 21st century technology • Mt. Zion Middle has a One to One iPad initiative for students at school • Implemented BYOT for all students

Zion Middle Opportunities for Growth Student Achievement • Continue to increase student achievement as measured by meets and exceeds on the CRCT • Continue to decrease achievement gaps between subgroups • Increase number of advanced opportunities for students Student and Stakeholder Engagement and Involvement • Continue to increase parental involvement opportunities • Improve parent/school communication Efficient and Effective Processes • Increase student use of technology in the classroom Continuous School Improvement • Expect Success!!!!

Zion High School Goals Student Achievement • Improve student achievement on the EOCT •Increase the number of students exceeding on the EOCT Stakeholder and Community Engagement • Improve Stakeholder Involvement and Satisfaction—Strive to be GREAT Efficient and Effective Processes • Increase student engagement through the use of technology

  15. Mt. Zion High School Highlights • Exceeds rates increased on 4 out of 6 EOCTs • Academic Team won the Carroll County Academic Meet • 32% of our students scored a 3 or higher on the AP exam—a 6% increase from last year • 93% of our 9th graders are on track for graduation

  16. Eagles Rise Up! • Softball Team placed 3rd in the State • Football team were sub region champions with a record of 6‐4 • Ashton Robinson was the Wrestling State Champion at 106 lbs • Wrestling team placed 4th in State Team Duals

Continuous School Improvement • 97% of students agree that the administration and teachers set high expectations for them • 94% of students and parents believe they are offered a quality education at Mt. Zion High • IPads were issued to students who earned all A’s for the second year • Successful plant sale by our agriculture students
