  1. Train Yourself to be Godly An 8-week Spiritual Fitness Class Strength Endurance Flexibility

  2. Train Yourself to be Godly Quote I Timothy 4:7,8 (Train yourself…) and Psalm 119:97 (Oh, how I) to a person near you. Turn in your Devotional Log from last week.

  3. Random-- • Dates are one day off. • I need 2 Genesis teacups. • Take visual and notes! • Foster—humility. • What did you discover through this past week’s assignment on meditation?

  4. Training Tip If it’s tight– STRETCH it. If it’s weak– STRENGTHEN it. • Most muscles work in pairs. • Triceps/Biceps • Quads/Hamstrings • If one set of muscles becomes overworked (tight), the corresponding set of muscles often becomes weak.

  5. Confession: To Agree With Works both sides of the spiritual muscle. Back Side: Agree with Truth About Me Front Side: Agree with Truth About God.

  6. Confession of Jesus and Doctrine By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh,  Was vindicated in the Spirit,  Seen by angels,  Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world,  Taken up in glory. I Tim.3:16 Front Side: Agree with Truth About God. if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

  7. Confession: To Agree With We are going to work the backside! Back Side: Agree with Truth About Me

  8. Coming Clean. Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?    Who may stand in his holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart. Psalm 24:3,4

  9. Results of Confession Back Side: Agree with Truth About Me “Things that are hidden have power in my life.” He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13

  10. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16 Freedom! If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

  11. False/True Confession  Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the LORD,the God of Israel, and give him the praise. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me.” Achanreplied, “It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done: When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.” Joshua 7 He was afraid of the retribution of the sin. “What’s going to happen to ME?”

  12. False/True Confession  When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.” “What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.” So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. Matthew 27 He was sorry for the result of the sin. “Oh dear, look what happened BECAUSE of me.”

  13. False/True Confession Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.  The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly. Luke 22 Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” John 21 He was deeply grieved over the relationship that was broken from the sin. “What have I done to US?!”

  14. “Things that are confessed no longer have power in my life!”

  15. What Do I Confess? A Stronghold. A Fear. A Pain. Shame.

  16. How to Confess • Specific sins not “sin in general” • Limit who you confess to; general only as far as the offense affects. Get someone trusted and also someone godly; not just a “good buddy to dump on.” • Limit details. Eph. 5:11-13 • Pray with each other after the confession.

  17. Assessment: Do you practice Confession? Front Side: Works Faith. Do share with others the truth about Jesus and the Scriptures? If you do this a lot, how will you stretch this?

  18. Assessment: Do you practice Confession? Back Side: Works Humility and Trust. Do you share with a trusted believer the truth about the things that you need cleansing, healing, and freedom from? If you do this rarely, how will you strengthen this?
