3. Utility Uniform Battle Dress Uniform (BDU)

4. Coat (Shirt) • Camouflage pattern, straight cut bottom. • May be worn with sleeves up or down • Take-up tabs on both sides (new version) • Single breasted bush type design with back yoke, color, four patch bellow type pockets with flaps.

5. Trousers • Camouflage patteren. • Loose fit. • Adjusting straps at waist / leg hem drawcords. • Four standard type pockets and two leg bellow type pockets.

6. Coat, cold weather (Field Jacket) • Camouflage pattern, lined, hip length. • Stand-up style color with concealed hood.

7. Accessories • Belt, black, web with tip and open-face black buckle. • Boots, combat, leather • Gloves, black leather shells with inserts. • Headgear. • Socks, black • Undershirt, Underwear brown

8. BDU Cap Continue Subdued insignia of grade worn centered on the front of the cap left to right, to to bottom by all enlisted personnel. Officers will wear nonsubdued in garrison and subdued in field enviroment. Chaplains will wear branch insignia

9. BDU Cap Continue No other insignia will be worn on the cap. Other, as diredted by the Unit SOP.

10. Insignia • Worn on headgear. • Worn on both collors of the coat. • Subdued pin-on or embroidered. • Centerd on both colors with center line of insignia biscecting the points of the color and the bottom of the insignia (not the cloth backing) positioned 1 inch up from the collar point.

11. Shoulder sleeve subdued patches and tabs. • Organization • Wartime • Special sklii tab.

12. Organizational • Embroidered patch of individuals current organization. • Worn centered on left sleeve 1/2 inch below the top of the shoulder seam or 1/8th inch below special skill tab.

13. Wartime (Combat) • Worn on right sleeve 1/2 inch below the top of the sholder seam or 1/8th inch below the special skill tab. • Original assumptions that are no longer valid

14. Special Skill Tab • Only one special skill tab will be worn left or right shoulder, 1/2 inch below the shoulder seam. • More than on special skill tab will be worn 1/8th below each other.

15. Combat and Special Skill Badges • Subdued pin-on or embroidered. • No more than four badges will be worn. • One or two will be worn on the left side centered above the U.S. Army tape. • Three or four will be worn with one centered on the left pocket flap and the others as in three above.

16. Name and U.S. Army Tape • Woven on tape of olive green cloth 1” wide , inscription in black with block letters 3/4” high • U.S. Army worn above and parallel to the top edge of the left breast pocket. • Length will either be 41/2” or extending to the edge of the breast pocket flap. • U.S. Army will not be embroidered directly to the uniform

18. Occasions for Wear (BDU) • On Duty when prescribed by commander. • For both male and female soldiers. • Worn by Officers and Enlisted Personnel • Year round all-purpose uniform.

19. Where Appropriate to Wear. • On post at individuals duty station. • On post establishments (Hospitals, PX, etc.). • In transit between quarters and duty station. • Not appropriate to wear off-post; however, local commanders has the authority to establish local policy concerning wear of the BDU.

21. Coat BDU • Loose fitting. • Alterations to make the uniform form fitting are not authorized. • Coat will be worn outside the trousers. • Waist take-up tabs be buttoned. • Sleeves may be rolled up or down. • When sleeves rolled up camouflage patteren will remain exposed. • Rolled neatly above the elbow but no more than three inches above the elbow

22. Trousers BDU • Loose fitting. • Alterations to make the uniform form fitting are not authorized. • Trousers will be worn bloused using the draw cords or blousing rubbers if trousers are not tucked into the boots.

24. Class A Army Green Coat (officer, warrant officer, enlisted). Army Green Shirt (short / long sleeve). Army Green Trousers (officer, warrant officers, enlisted). Necktie, black four-in-hand. Headgear (Garrison / Service cap).

25. Accessories Belt with brass buckle and tip. Insignia (grade, headgear, branch). Badges (Marksmanship, special skills). Fourragere / lanyard / cord Tabs (leader, special skill). Patches and DUI Name tags Ribbons and awards Service stripes Overseas bars

26. Class B • Long sleeve shirt with tie. • Short sleeve shirt with tie. • Short sleeve shirt without tie.

27. Accessories • Name plate • Headgear • Belt, black with brass tip. • Insignia (grade, DUI, headgear). • Footgear • Sweater / Jacket

28. Service Uniform Occasion for Wear • May be worn by all Army military personnel. • Authorized for wear on or off duty, or during travel. • Acceptable for wear at social functions either before or after retreat. • Year round uniform.

When Appropriate to Wear • On post • At your place of duty • At all on post facilities • Off post • At any off post facilities • There are no local restrictions prohibiting the wearing of the Army Green Service Uniforms off-post; however, local commanders may restrict the wearing of the uniform in sensitive areas.

30. Components of the Army Green Service Uniform

31. Coat, Army Green • Single breasted, peaked-lapel, four-button, extending below the crotch. • Fits easily over the chest and shoulders. • Slight draped effect in the front and back. • Fitted slightly at waist without tightness and without no prominent flare.

32. Shirt Army Green, Long Sleeve Dress type with shoulder loops. Two pocket with button down flap. Always worn with four-in-hand tie.

33. Shirt Army Green, Short Sleeve Dress type with shoulder loops.. Two pocket with button down flap. May be worn with four-in-hand tie. May be worn with collar open (Class B).

34. Ties • Black four-in-hand type. • Black bow worn only with dress green (white shirt ) uniform.

35. Trousers, Army Green • Straight legged without cuff. • Side and hip pockets with buttonhole tab on left hip pocket

36. Accessories • Belt web, black with brass tip. • Buckle solid brass, (worn with Class A and B uniform). • Shoes, Black oxfords (low quarters). • Socks, black • Headgear • Gloves, black leather, unisex, dress

37. Service Cap • Service Cap with insignia. • Plain black leather visor and chinstrap. • Worn straight on the head so that the braid hat band creates a straight line around the head parallel to the ground. • Shape of the cap will not be altered in any manner.

38. Garrison Cap with DUI • Cord edge braid of the same material as the cap. • Worn with the front vertical crease of the cap centered on the forehead. • Cap will be tilted slightly to the right, but in no case will the side of the cap rest on top of the ear. • The crown of the cap will not be crushed or shape to form peaks. • DUI will be centered on the left curtain, one inch from the front crease.

40. Insignia Branch Branch of their primary MOS. Not worn by basic trainees (will wear U.S. on both collars). Bottom of disk placed approximately one inch above the notch and centered on wearer`s left collar with center line of the insignia parallel to the inside edge of the lapel.

41. United States (U.S.) Worn by all enlisted personnel. Bottom of disk placed approximately one inch above the notch and centered on wearer`s right collar with center line of insignia parallel to the inside edge of the lapel.

42. Grade (Rank) • Embroidered sew-on , golden color. • Background cloth of Army green. • Sewn on each sleeve centered between the shoulder seam and the elbow.

43. Shoulder Sleeve, Nonsubdued (Patch) • Organization • Embroidered patch of individual`s current organization / assignment. • Worn centered on left sleeve 1/2” below the top of the shoulder seam. • Wartime Service Patch (Combat) • Worn centered on right sleeve 1/2” below the top of the shoulder seam

44. Distinguish Unit Insignia (DUI) • Metal or metal and enamel. • Worn on shoulder loops, centered and equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the button with the base of the crest towards the outside shoulder seam.

45. Name Plate • Black laminated plastic 1 by 3” by 1/16” thick with white border not to exceed 1/32” in width. • Lettering will be block type, last name only, and centered on plate. • Plate finish may be either gloss or non-gloss. • Worn on the flap of the right breast pocket, centered between the top of the button and the top of the pocket.

46. Decorations, Service Medals / Ribbons, Badges • Service Medals / Ribbons • Worn in order of precedence by category of medal from wearer`s right to left. • Worn centered 1/8th” above the left breast pocket in as many rows as necessary. • No more than four ribbons in a row. • Second row will not be started unless individual is authorized four or more medals / ribbons.

47. U.S. and Foreign Unit Awards • Worn in order of precedence by category of medal from wearer`s right to left. • Worn centered 1/8th” above the right breast pocket in as many rows as necessary. • No more than three ribbons in a row, with no space between emblems.

48. Badges • No more than three marksmanship badges. • No more than three clasp per badge. • Worn on the left pocket flap in order of precedence from wearer`s right but to the left of any special skill badge. • One badge will be centered on the left pocket flap with the upper portion of the badge approximately 1/8th” below the seam.

49. Badges Continue • Two badges will be equally spaced from let to right with at least one inch between badges. • Three badges will be equally spaced from left to right on the pocket flap. An alternative would be with a special skill badge worn centered, 1/8th” below seam and marksmanship badges worn centered between the button with the bottom of the badge on the bottom of the flap.
