  2. Special Case #1: Perfect Squares You can recognize this case because the coefficient of x and the constant are both perfect squares. The coefficient of x has to be 2 x a x b!

  4. Factor: = 9 = 7 9 7 Check 2x9x7 = 126

  5. Factor: Always check for common factors first! = 2 = 5 5 2 Check 2x5x2 = 20

  6. Factor: = y = 4 4 y Check 2 x 4 x y = 8y

  7. Special Case #2: Difference of Squares You can recognize this case because there are only two terms and there is always a “-” between them!

  9. Factor: = 11 = 8 11 11 8 8

  10. Factor: Always check for common factors first! = 1 = 5 5 5 1 1
