  4. Vaginal Ring • Hormonal method • Inserts into vagina and releases hormones into the body Stays in vagina for three weeks and then reinserted after menstruation.

  5. Norplant • Hormonal method • Implants stays in for up to three to five years • Four sticks implanted in the skin that releases hormones

  6. DepoProvera Shot • Hormonal method • Injections last up 12 weeks • Hormones are injected into the body

  7. The Patch • Hormonal method • Patch that release hormones through the skin • Patch stays on for three weeks

  8. Intra Uterine Device (IUD) • Barrier method • Device implanted on the uterus to prevent eggs from implantation • Device stays on uterus for up to five years.

  9. Diaphragm/Cervical Cap • Barrier method • Cups inserted right before intercourse to block the cervix so that sperm cannot get through it.

  10. Male Condom • Barrier method • Latex sheath that covers the penis to prevent sperm from entering the vagina

  11. Female Condom • Barrier method • Made of polyurethane • Used to prevent sperm from entering the vagina

  12. Spermicide • Barrier method • Cream, jelly, suppository used to kill sperms

  13. Rhythm Method Use of calendar in order to avoid ovulation

  14. Morning-After Pill • Emergency hormonal contraception • way to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex. • It works best up to 72 hours after having unprotected sex, but will reduce the risk of pregnancy if taken within 120 hrs (5 days) after unprotected sex.
