  4. Annual Air Emissions Inventory • DEP’s Chapter 137, “Emission Statements”: • Inventory is required of all licensed sources with the potential to emit certain air pollutants above a minimum reporting level. • If a source is required to report criteria air pollutants, they must also report certain greenhouse gases. 5. Criteria Air Pollutants MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  6. Greenhouse Gases • Carbon Dioxide • Methane • Nitrous Oxide • Sulfur Hexafluoride • Other Hydrofluoro-carbons (HFCs) and Perfluorocarbons (PFCs) MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  7. New for 2013 Reporting • Emission Process Status (e.g. fuels): • If a particular process (e.g. wood) was not used in the reporting year you may simply set the operating status to “Not Operational”. • Performance Feature: • The new web platform and database version should improve performance (speed) of the system. However, we are currently working on a new server set up and experiencing some intermittent issues that we hope will be resolved. MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  8. Recent Enhancements • Performance Feature: • Pages refresh faster when you select to view fewer Emissions Units in the side bar. • Facilities with more than 10 pieces of equipment will see an improvement. MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  9. Recent Enhancements • Emission units officially removed from the license should not be displayed in MAIRIS: • Equipment officially removed from a license will be stop dated and will no longer appear on the emission units list. • Equipment will be updated by DEP staff either annually, or upon request. MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  10. Preferred Internet Browsers • Internet Explorer still cannot print/display MAIRIS reports: • DEP recommends Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox • Contact us if you must use Internet Explorer and cannot print a report MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  11. 2013 is Not a HAP Reporting Year • Next year is a HAP reporting year. Let us know if you have any concerns about preparing for 2014 HAP reporting. MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  12. Accounts and Roles • Facility Approvers must have signed MAIRIS User Registration & Digital Signature Agreements on file • Agreement must be notarized • Only one Approver per facility • Facility Editors are added by the Approver • There is a form to update Editors • Consultants can only be Facility Editors MAINE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION www.maine.gov/dep

  13. New User Accounts • New user accounts are created once an agreement is received by DEP • The user receives an e-mail with a single-use password that must be changed. • Facility Approvers answer five challenge questions (security feature). • “MAIRIS Legal Name” is your full name, not your MAIRIS user name.
