TU Delft's DUWIND research group is one of Europe’s oldest and largest academic R&D groups focusing on wind energy. With 13 research groups and over 30 PhD candidates, DUWIND specializes in multidisciplinary design methods, advanced analyses, and feasibility testing for innovative wind energy solutions. Despite challenges such as limited R&D funding, DUWIND fosters collaboration across faculties through a unique MSc in Wind Energy, aimed at integrating design and sustainable energy practices. The initiative supports hands-on research, collaborating with industry and academia to drive advancements in renewable energy.

Duwind is a formal TUD institute • An Executive Board: deans + rector (meets almost never) • An International Advisory Board, together with ECN (twice a year) • Internal meetings: once a month a work-lunch
Strong and weak points Strong: • bottom-up, based on >30 y of cooperation • Duwind has no R&D money, only common acquisition • All activities are content based Weak: • Duwind has no R&D money, only common acquisition • Financial support by faculties for overhead
