  2. Broadening Horizons As a technical society, how can we broaden the application of our technology to better serve humanity and promote a sustainable world? Broadening ASHRAE’s Horizons

  3. My Personal Journey • Grew up in a small community • Wanted to be a mechanical engineer at an early age • Joined ASHRAE with a very narrow vision • ASHRAE has given me opportunities to: • Increase my technical knowledge • Meet the best and brightest persons in the built environment • Solve problems with people from all parts of the globe Broadening ASHRAE’s Horizons

  4. Our Heritage “We have problems relating to air pollution, water pollution, thermal pollution and noise pollution among other things. But air, water, heat and noise are just the things ASHRAE members cut their teeth on. We cannot simply sit on the sidelines. We have so much talent that it is our responsibility, indeed our duty as professionals to lend our aid.” -Stan GilmanASHRAE President 1971-72 Broadening ASHRAE’s Horizons

  5. ASHRAE Today • Celebrating our 118th Anniversary • Diverse Society: • 53,500+ Members • 132 Countries • 176 Chapters • 43 Sections • 327 Student Branches • 53 Associate Societies • 2,500 Members Active on Society Committees Broadening ASHRAE’s Horizons
