What is Paraphrasing??? • PARAPHRASING IS… • A detailed restatement in your own words • Used to clarify meaning • Can be used to shorten a longer statement, but keeps the main ideas
So How Do We Do It? • Read the passage carefully • Decide what are the main ideas • Highlight important words / phrases • Put the main points in your own words PARAPHRASE ME!
