What learner outcomes do you expect students to achieve as a result of WBL? What are some of the ways we are currently providing Work-based Learning experiences?
If we were to expand WBL opportunities to serve all students, are there alternative ways to achieve the same student learner outcomes? Brainstorm some ideas as a group
Alternatives need to… • Address the logistical issues of placing large numbers of student in individual internships • Ensure equity of access • Align with learning outcomes
Let’s review some examples • Review the outcomes and criteria • Determine who will look for what • Get familiar with the Assess and Upgrade Worksheet • Observe http://www.edutopia.org/high-tech-high-internship-video
Observations • From the video, what outcomes were evident? Provide examples • What outcomes might have been missing? • What criteria were evident? • What was missing • How would you improve this experience?
If you were going to expand WBL to serve all students in you academy, what elements would need to be in place at the state, local, district, and school and academy level?
