This research investigates optimal seeding rates for corn and soybeans in Illinois and Iowa by analyzing the relationship between seed prices and commodity selling prices. The study focuses on evaluating economic soybean seeding rates and utilizes data from the U of I Monmouth Research Center. Key findings include estimates of seed prices for 2009 and recommendations for achieving final stands with efficient seeding strategies. Insights into how planting population affects net returns are also presented.
