Designed for student choice • A.B. degree has been revised to be more flexible and provide disciplinary breadth (32 hours) • a set of core courses • focus groups from which students choose electives to provide breadth(health-related, non-health related and advanced fundamentals) • serves pre-professionals and students desiring entry-level positions as microbiologists • B.S. degree has been designed to provide depth of study and a research emphasis (40 hours) • a larger set of core courses • focus groups from which students choose electives to provide depth(lecture/lab courses, research, additional disciplinary courses) • an additional semester of math • serves students who will pursue graduate study and research careers
