Dare to be Digital, in partnershipwith NITH • The NorwegianSchool ofInformationTechnology (NITH) is Nordic Champion for Dare to be Digital 2011 (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland) • Judges from the Nordic gamingindustrywillassess the games in the competition • Promotionalevents at severalNordic universitiesin February and March • Selectionevent at NITH in Oslo, NorwayThursday 5th May 2011 • The winning team will be sponsored by theScottishGovernment, and attendthecompetition in Dundee, Scotland

Team Dynamics What is a balanced team? • Team of 5 students - Mix of programmers and artists (4 students if you are from Nordic region, the team will get a Scottish student as an ambassador and team member) • Programmers working use of C++ / Java • Artists Animators, Technical Artists, Concept Artists, Character Artists, Environment Artist • Audio Examples of teams Team Leader* - 3 programmes, 2 artists Team Leader – 2 programmers, 2 artists, 1 Audio *Team Leaders can be either programmers/artists/audio

Scottish Student Ambassador • The Scottish Government Sponsors 3 International • teams: • - China • - India • - Nordic • Each team has a Scottish representative i.e. the Scottish Student Ambassador • To help the team engage with Scotland and learn more about what a beautiful place Scotland is to live and work • Must have lived and studied in Scotland for a minimum of 3 years • Must be either an Artist or a Programmer • Must have a valid passport and able to travel in June 2011

  10. How to Apply Nordic Get a team of 4 together and complete the online form Daretobedigital.com By 3rd April 2011 NB: If you are struggling to get a team of 4 together, you can find additional team members on our Dare website notice board

Application Form • Clear description of your game: - Platform - Target Audience • Explain how you will adapt this idea into a game • Explain how the game fits with the Dare criteria: - Market Potential - Innovation and Creativity - Use of Technology • Upload examples of visuals from the artists in the team • Detail well thought out deliverables and key milestones • Teams skills and experience

  12. What happens next? • Applications screened by industry panel • Highest scoring teams invited to Interview at NITH • Teams will pitch to a judging panel from industry

  13. Selection Day Teams present to an Industry Panel - opportunity to sell your game • 20 mins to pitch your game idea 10 mins for Q & A • Feedback - all teams will receive feedback

  14. Key Dates Entry Closing Date 3rd April Online selection 4th -18th April Interviews 5th May at NITH, Oslo, Norway Competition Dates 13th June - 15th August Dare ProtoPlay 12th - 14th August Final judging 14th August *NB Dates may be subject to change
