Background and context • Changes from Stockton Renaissance to LSP – April 2014 • Brighter Borough for All - Document - LSP Contributions to Poverty Agenda • Giving every child the best start in life • Maximizing Family income • Embedding new ways of working – Meeting structures/ Task and Finish groups. • Annual Business meeting • Showcasing the work of the Locality Forums • Evidencing difference made / impact on communities

Impact • Why understanding / monitoring impact is important • Develop a culture/ way of working in LSP & partners/ VCSE focused on impact. • Understanding Impact from the beginning not an “add on” • Provides clarity and focus on what you are doing • Clear to others how they might fit in /help • Helps planning activity , knowing what you want to achieve • Monitoring impact provides an evidence base • Clear to other stakeholders what value they might add • Supports bids and credibility • Success breed success.

  6. Planning • Evaluation tools • Plan, Do, Monitor, Review (culture) • Evaluation Tools promote effective planning • Setting priorities – based on needs assessment • Work up / document the What, how, who, when and … • What difference do we want to make and how will we know?

Monitoring / Evaluation • Establish initially what needs to be measured • Measures of impact can be on a number of levels. • Short, medium and long term outcomes • How can impact be measured and monitored. • Be clear up front how , when and by whom impact will be measured. • Tools - Examples : Case Study, interviews, focus group, survey, increase in participation, numbers , longer term goal/ target • Ways of reporting outcomes. Visual / Graphic/ video recording/ Thank - you letter.

Review • Regular updates and monitoring through Task and Finish meetings • Progress and monitoring of priorities standing agenda item on LSP Meetings • Regular review allows story to build and develop over time. • Better understanding and ready made storyboard for Annual meeting. • Review what worked well / not so well to inform future planning.

  9. Support • Toolkit - Held electronically • Support from Chair in ensuring effective planning and regular monitoring. • Support from LSP - Community Engagement Team • Support over next 12 months in initial project planning stage to embed the culture leading up to February business meeting. • Further training with task and finish groups if required.
