  1. THANK YOU! Gratitude is what The DAISY Award is all about, and we want to express our profound gratitude to you for taking the time to nominate a special nurse. We started The DAISY Foundation in 1999 when our Patrick died after an eight-week hospitalization. Like you, we were tremendously touched by the care he (and we) experienced in the skillful and loving hands of his nurses. We felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses everywhere for the compassionate care they provide their patients every day. The DAISY Award program is successful because so many people like you take the time and thought to write a nomination for a deserving nurse. So please accept our heartfelt thanks for helping ensure The DAISY Award achieves its mission of ensuring that nurses know how much we as patients, families, and colleagues appreciate all they do for us. The nurse you nominated is being recognized with a special DAISY nominee pin and a copy of the nomination you wrote. So there is even more gratitude coming your way!
