ALL ABOUT ME • I am from Raceland, LA • I graduated from Central Lafourche H.S. in 2000. • I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry at SLU, where I graduated in 2004. • I have completed my first year of the PhD program at LSU-HSC in biomedical science and I am working on my master’s in education at Nicholls.

  3. ALL ABOUT ME • After graduation, I worked at LSU-HSC doing schizophrenia research using fruit flies. • After Hurricane Katrina, I moved to NC to work at Duke University researching HIV. • In 2007, I moved to Chicago to work at Northwestern University to research asthma and allergies.

  4. ALL ABOUT ME • In 2010, I moved back to Louisiana and worked at Tulane University researching typhoid fever in mice. • I have published six scientific papers in reputable journals about my data and research, which can be found on pubmed.com

  9. WHAT I EXPECT FROM YOU • Be on time. • Be prepared • Turn in assignments at the beginning of class. • Listen and take notes. • Raise your hand if you have a question. • Stay awake and participate. • Be respectful. • Wear the proper attire and I.D.

  12. Daily Routine • Bell ringer, warm-up activity or SSR • Review of previous day’s material • Introduce objectives for the day • Process objectives • Independent practice • Assessment, such as a quiz • Closure/Pack-up

  13. Supplies • 3-ring binder or notebook with pockets • Loose leaf paper • Blue or black ink and/or pencil • Goggles for lab days • Scientific calculator

  14. Homework • Homework will be assigned periodically and CHECKED for effort and completion. • All of your assignments will be posted on the website.

  16. Projects Each grading period, you will be assigned a project. This project is to HELP your overall grade. You may either work in a group of no more than 3 people or work alone, if you choose. These projects are worth one major grade.

  17. GRADING • 100-90 A • 89-80 B • 79-70 C • 69-60 D • >60 F 85% of your final grade will be based on your assignments, lab reports and tests. 15% of your final grade will be based on your homework, quizzesand participation.
