  5. Defense Internal Defense Circulatory System: • Function: • Contains White Blood Cells • Surround & digest pathogens • System: • White Blood Cells • Produce Antibodies • Target Antigens • A protein on the surface of an infected cell

  6. Defense Internal Defense Lymphatic System/ Immune System: • Functions: • Defends against Germs • Lymphocytes destroy Bacteria • Killer T –cells • White Blood Cells • B-cells: Antibodies • Remove excess Tissue Fluids (Lymph) • filters & purifies Lymph fluid • Produces Antibodies that stay in the blood

  7. Defense Internal Defense Lymphatic System/ Immune System: • Structures: • Lymph nodes • Lymph Vessels • Lymphocytes: T-cells & B-cells • Antibodies

  8. Defense Natural Killer Cells Internal Defense Specific Immunity: • Functions: • Targets & destroys cells with foreign Antigens • Makes Antibodies • B-cells • Structures: • Lymphocytes called T cells: • Helper T – cells • Stimulate B-cells • Stimulate Killer T -cells • Killer T –cells • Destroy pathogens • Lymphocytes called B cells: • Make Antibodies
