  9. Managing Disputes • Conflicts are almost inevitable • Can arise between employees and employees and employers • Acts as a consultant and mediator • Listen to stories from both sides before acting • Keep things from getting out of hand

  10. Developing Public Relations • Organize various official gatherings on behalf of the company in order to build up relationships with other business sectors • Plays an active role in preparing the business and marketing plans for the organization • Build a positive image to the public

  11. Time and Money Disadvantages • Relinquishing Control • How your business operates • Not be able to make important decisions in key areas • Time and Money

  12. How to overcome • Limit its power • Have a board • Important decisions must be consulted • It brings more money than it spends • HR outsource • Not have a HR department

  13. HR Outsourcing • To ensure that the HR department tasks are carried out, many business owners have begun to outsource some or all of the departments function to provide HR services and data, including compensation surveys.

  14. Advantages • Savings: much less, only charge for the services that the business uses • Efficiency: the cost savings allow businesses to increase funds for other departments, increasing marketplace competitiveness, still have the great service of HR and hence increase the efficiency of the employees • Process: to implement processes that are efficient while falling within all legal regulations, are able to recommend standardized processes, such as training, hiring and retaining employees

  15. Disadvantages • Expertise: no central hub of expertise with information on employee training and business operation processes. Each business operates uniquely, so it may be difficult for an outside company to understand • Cultural: employees lose the personal connection of working, feelings of resentment that the outside HR team does not have the employees best interest at heart, the sense of security in having an in-house HR team

  16. Not have an HR department • Under what circulmstance do you think that a company should not have an HR department?

  17. Advantages • Simplified Hiring Process • relieves the stress of finding qualified employees when positions open up. • Managers can focus on their daily tasks and let the human resources department focus on the hiring process(searching for candidates, interviewing them and performing background checks) • Simplified Management • Less employees to watch over and less programs and services to account for. • This can release an additional burden on your accounting department and yourself as the owner or manager of the company. • You may not be able to manage too many people and hence make mistakes or loose efficiency.

  18. Advantages • Cost • Save money for other things. such as employee programs and services, can amount to over $1,000 per employee. • According to Human Resource Executive Online, the average cost for human resources per employee totaled $1,569 in 2009 • Small businesses often exist on thin profit margins, so extra expenses can make a significant negative impact on small businesses.

  19. Disadvantages • Employee Relations • have difficulty developing and maintaining a solid relationship with employees. • Human resources bridges communication gaps between company management and employees and offers employees the opportunity to release their frustrations with the company and report wrongdoings. • Without it, you may have to find another way for employees to release their frustration or you need to do it yourselves. Otherwise, job satisfaction will decrease. • More work for the manager • The manager has to cover for the HR department
