BASIC TRAINING RECRUITMENT CRITERIA • Regulation 11[1][a][vii] – “be proficient at least in English and one of the other official languages” • Fitness – as selection criteria – test potential to be able to reach organizational standard after basic training • This together with tactical standard becomes compulsory for all functional members of the SAPS and be recognized as standards to be tested at least annually (Implementation: 2005)

DETECTIVE PROGRAMME: CHANGES • Moved from Silverton to Hammanskraal • Facilities being upgraded • First intervention delivered at present • Delivery: Phases A & B in Provinces (10 weeks); Phase C at Detective Academy (6 weeks): 4 months in total – in modular block-release form it could be delivered over a year if operational duties vs development is taken into account
