  4. Our Expectations • Promote an understanding of Sustainable Development • Empower staff to act in favor of sustainable development • Cross fertilization • Build a group culture • Promote group’s agenda 21

  5. Competition process • Nov 2, 2002: Competition begins. Sustainable development campaign and distribution of competition material • March 31, 2003, closing date of competition • May 2003 Jury evaluates 30 finalists • June 26, 2003: awarding ceremony

  6. Examples of Winning Projects • A lesson in electricity through literacy classes EDF (France) • A reference in sustainable development in Africa Azito O & M (Ivory Coast) • Education on the environment Light (Brazil ) • A path towards regional development EDEMSA (Argentina)

  7. Major Findings • A successful operation that mobilized the staff • 100 to 150 files were expected : 437 were received. • Practical approach is most effective • SD Business practice positively impacts communities.
