Simplest Form A radical expression is in simplest form when the following three conditions have been met. • No radicands have perfect square factors other than one. • No radicands contain fractions. • No radicals appear in the denominator of the fraction.
Quotient Property of Radicals The Quotient Property of Radicals states that the square root of a quotient equals the quotient of the square roots of the numerator and denominator.
Rationalizing the Denominator The process of eliminating a radical from an expression’s denominator is called rationalizing the denominator.
Radical Conjugates • The binomials are called radical conjugates. The product of these two expressions does not contain radicals. and
