Since the 1990s, the marketing of fed cattle using grids and formulas has significantly increased, rising from just 10% in 1990 to over 50% by 2002, with projections to reach 75% by 2005, according to Cattle-Fax. Meanwhile, American dining habits have evolved; despite economic challenges, people are dining out more and spending less time cooking at home. Today, half of home meals take less than 30 minutes to prepare, and nearly half are one-dish meals, with only 14% of dinners now including desserts, as reported by NPD Foodworld in 2002.
