  1. Discussion -Three known types of variable stars shared similar period length and magnitudes within their groups -My findings are supported by scientists as far back as Henrietta Swan Leavitt, who first discovered Delta Cep in the 1800s. -Limitations: Not as many already classified variable stars with enough data. I am also using “canned” data so I am relying on the observations of others because I could not observe these stars myself.

  2. Conclusion • My findings support my null hypothesis that states that there is a relationship regarding period and magnitude within 3 different types of variable stars. It refutes my alternate hypothesis that states that there will not be a relationship regarding period and magnitude within 3 types of variable stars. After running a Corrolation test it was found that there was a relationship between period and magnitude in three types of variable stars, which is supported by a Sheffe post-hoc test.

  3. Future Research • If I were able to do this study again, I would have collected the data myself instead of getting it from the AAVSO. • The next step in my research would be to see if there are relationships between spectroscopy in different types of variable stars.
