  3. A Brief History • 2001 Feasibility Study • Plan withdrawn • Concerns over two campuses • 2003 Feasibility Study • Plan shelved • State funding moratorium • 2005 Master Plan • Three options proposed by Architects • Long term planning document

  4. Role of the MSBA • “Responsible for management, financing, and auditing” of school building projects • Protect the taxpayer’s dollar • Looking to partner with communities to build “right size” projects • Newly-created authority in early stages of funding new projects

MSBA Update • 2005/2006 • MSBA performs needs assessment on all schools • Rates Spalding a “4” (worst), ranks it a high priority • 2006/2007 • SBC submits Statement of Interest to MSBA • MSBA visited CPS for Senior Study and Facilities Assessment • Winter 2007/08 • Carlisle receives feasibility invitation • Carlisle representatives meet with MSBA • MSBA projects 40% project reimbursement • MSBA gives nod to Master Plan as basis for moving forward • Spring 2008 • Provide town data for MSBA enrollment projections • Meet with Selectmen on project planning • Extend SBC per MSBA specs

Next Steps – Short Term • Feasibility Study Agreement with MSBA • Hire Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) • Required by state for public building projects • Represents Carlisle’s interests during entire process • Hire Architect to develop schematic design • Preliminary layout • Conceptual drawings • Estimate of project costs

  7. Long Term • Complete Feasibility Study • Finalize Scope and Budget with MSBA • Appropriate funds within 120 days • Detailed project design (approx 1 year) • Construction (approx 2 years)
