  3. Why do we need Interactive Internet Platform? Lisbon Strategy • To make the EU"the most dynamic and competitive knowledge-based economy in the world” by 2010, • To create friendly environment for the SMEs, promotion of the best practices and cooperation among European Economy Area Countries.

  4. Interactive Internet Platform - objectives and tasks • To stimulate innovativeness and strengthen position of Polish products on national and European market, • To transfer the knowledge about market, production,innovative technologies, marketing and quality systems, • To create opportunities for entrepreneurs to take knowledge based decisions concerning production development and investments, • To give to the entrepreneurs flexibility to individually plan their education, • To diminish the disparities in educational opportunities available to people living in the rural areas compared to those of urban areas.

  5. Interactive Internet Platform - merit content • Platform of Market Analysis and Prognosis, • Platform of Technology Transfer, • Interactive Platform of Consulting andTraining.

  6. Platform of Market Analysis and Prognosis • Database of prices on the main wholesale markets in the country and in Europe – systematically updated, • Short and midterm prognosisof demand and supply, carried out by independent experts.

  7. Platform of Technology Transfer • Databases of: • innovative technologies, • R&D units, • companies in the area of agri-food production and processing, • companies producing equipment for agri-food sector, • Active promotion of innovative technologies.

  8. Interactive Platform of Consulting and Training • Training module(multimedia lectures from the field of marketing, management, logistic and technologies), • Module supporting decision makingin the scope of Quality Control, • Teleconferences(scientists with advisors from Agricultural Consulting Centres), • Virtual discussion forum

  9. „Package solutions” • For enterprises, • Solutions integrating information, analysis and innovative technologies from different fields of agriculture and processing, comprising in „one hand” knowledge about production of raw materials, processing, sale and marketing activates, • Application: • providing an insight into the whole added value chain, • meeting growing customer demands, • increase of sale and market control, • utilization of the potential of innovative offer, • achieving the competitive position.

Interactive Internet Platform - Assumptions • Set of information and offers of innovative technologies, • Quick and easy access for producers to current information, supporting development, investment policy, marketing and logistics, • Computer requirements for using the Platform: • personal computer with access to Internet and standard web browser, • Financing: • designing and implementation stage – donations, • afterwards – self-financing form advertisements, commission sale, and symbolic charges for „entry”, • Promotion: during scientific and vocational conferences and through special courses and demonstrations organized for producers.

Interactive Internet Platform- potential beneficiaries • entrepreneurs(production, storage, processing and wholesale of agri-food products), • producer unions, • economy chambers, • research & development environment, • students of faculties related to agriculture, agri-food processing and agribusiness.

Support for Concept of Interactive Internet Platform • Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture, • Skierniewice Horticultural Pomology Platform, • Centre of Advanced Technologies AgroTech • coordination - Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture, • AgroTech is comprised of universities, branch institutes and economy partners, • aim: development of new production and processing technologies of agricultural products.

Skierniewice Horticultural Pomology Platform • Interactive Internet Platform for education, transfer of innovative technologies and exchange of information. • Implementation: Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture (director – Prof. Dr.Danuta Goszczyńska). Implementation period (building): 1.09.2006 r. – 30.06.2008 r. • Financing: • Integrated Regional Development Programme from the ESF, • State Budget, • Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture.

Skierniewice Horticultural Pomology Platform • Platform modules: • Platform of Market Analysis and Prognosis, • Platform of Technology Transfer, • Interactive Platform of Consulting and Training, • Virtual Pomology Exchange. • Beneficiaries: • Entrepreneurs (production, storage, processing of fruit and vegetables, producer unions). • Computer requirements for using the Platform: • Personal computer with access to Internet and standard web browser.

SkierniewiceHorticulturalPomology Platform - forecasted scope • option of running „life” lectures in the form of teleconferences, • multimedia lectures, • database of innovative technologies, • active promotion of innovative technologies, • feasibility study for subsequent technologies, • records of prices of fruit and vegetable products on Polish and foreign wholesale markets, • prognosis of demand and supply of fruit and vegetable products on Polish and foreign markets, • database of economic subjects in agri-food sector,

Skierniewice Horticultural Pomology Platform - forecasted scope • interactive system of consulting in the field of production, fruit and vegetable processing and quality control, • virtual register of farming interventions (card-index set up by producers with records being in agreement with EurepGAPprotocols and Integrated Production, protected against any further changes – aim: to speed up the process of obtaining a certificate), • virtual stock exchange of fruit and vegetables with the option of carrying out on-line auction, • interactive discussion forum.

  17. Summary • At present, only information exchange system based on Internet seems to be a suitable solution. • Interactive Internet Platform: • quick and convenient source of information, comprising data about accessible innovative solutions and decision making support, • stimulation of the development of entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector, • support for regional policy in the area of innovation.

  18. Interactive Internet Platform will function beyond boarders. The Platform resources may be the offer for all interested,also abroad Poland.
