  3. Programmable Brick • The main piece to any Mindstorm creation • CPU for robot • Input • Capable of running advanced programs • Programmable 2 ways: • 1) on the brick • 2)on the computer

  4. Sensors

  5. Ultrasonic Sensor • input • Allows robot to “see” • Can measure distances • Can react to movement • x1

  6. Touch Sensor • input • Reacts to environment • Senses if robot bumps into anything • Hole in front • x2

  7. Light sensor • input • Senses light • Differentiates colors • Lamp • x1

  8. The Pieces

  9. normal pieces • Mostly look like this • Match pieces to pics • Bars go through holes • Round= rotate (ex: wheels) • Plus-shaped= holding

  10. connector beams • Used for structure • Size= number of holes • Can be strung together on axel • Can have plus holes

  11. Axels • Used to allow movement • Can fit into both plus and round holes • Ex: wheels, pivot points, etc • Secured by end caps and spacers

  12. The buttons • Orange button: • On button • Selects options • Accept • Gray button: • Backs up one layer (go back) • Turns off machine • Arrow keys • Scrolls through options

  13. Connecting the brick to a computer 1) plug in USB cable to marked USB port 2) plug other end of USB cable to computer 3) Turn on brick (orange button) 4) Load up lego software 5) It should now be connected
