  2. Where is the Tundra biome found? The tundra biome is found along the coastal regions of the arctic. A great example of this biome is Greenland. It can also be found in some areas of Alaska as well.

  3. The Tundra biome is said to be the youngest of all of the biomes, being formed approximately 10 000 years ago. It covers almost 20% of our earth.

  4. temperature? In the winter months temperatures in the tundra biome can reach as low as -50˚C. the tundra biome only gets around 30 inches of rain every year. Polar and arctic air are dominate in this area.

  5. Sunlight? During the winter months, it is completely dark. In the summer is when we start to see some sunlight, but it still isn’t much.

  6. Appearance? In the tundra biome, there is very little vegetation, and almost no trees at all. Because the ground is frozen atleast 25 centimeters down, large trees cannot grow here. this biome is also ¾ permafrost. Permafrost is a layer of permanently frozen subsoil.

  7. Animals that live in the Tundra biome. • Many animals live in this biome, however have had to adapt to the freezing temperatures and extreme weather. Most mammals have a thick coat to protect there skin from the cold air. The arctic fox, snowy owl, caribou, Musk ox and the polar bear are all example of animals that make their home in this biome.
