Enhancing Reading Comprehension at Waverly High School: Strategies and Outcomes

This report outlines the instructional initiatives at Waverly High School, focusing on improving reading comprehension and vocabulary through targeted pre-reading strategies. The analysis of ACT/MME data reveals a need for growth, with a notable percentage of students not meeting benchmarks. Our objectives include testing freshmen using the Gates-MacGinitie Test, communicating student progress to parents, and implementing school-wide strategies such as guided reading and vocabulary instruction. By fostering collaboration among teachers and monitoring progress, we aim to elevate reading skills and overall academic achievement across all subjects.
