  2. The goals— • Improve student learning • Attract a highly qualified staff • Retain effective teachers • Promote professional growth • Increase collaboration • Reward effective teachers

Importance of your work Tier 1 teams will assist in identifying quality candidates to fulfill the roles of… • Mentor teachers • Mentor coaches • Instructional coaches • Model classroom teachers • Lead teacher • Facilitators  Career Academy Coordinators  Department chairs  Grade level team leaders

The selection process— • Applicantsubmits application, skills-based evidence (i.e. assessment data, samples of feedback, videos.) and two letters of recommendations, one from a peer and one from an administrator. • Teachers & building admin nominate 5-person Tier 1 committee to review and rate applications. Recommended that parent is on this team, but not a requirement.

  5. Tier 1 Committee Work (Handout – TLC Leadership Process) • Reflect on the required, recommended skills/qualifications for leadership position • Review each of the candidates materials • Use the Rubric-TLC Rating Form to determine if each of the elements have been addressed by the candidates materials. • Upload one TLC Candidate Rating Form per candidate representing the group’s consensus to the TLC Portal. This will be reviewed by the Tier 2 Committee.

  6. Let’s Review the Rating Process (Handout – TLC Rating Form) • Exemplar Description – desired rating • General Information at top of form • Principal is the ONLY one to review references • Suggestion - Meet with Tier 1 Committee to discuss the Rating Process and applied meaning in the school prior to the actual candidate reviews • Each rating will result in a final point total to support the process

  7. Accessing Portal / Information • Principal accesses the portal • Suggestion - display application and evidence documents on Board for committee members to review • Remember – Principal is the only one who sees recommendations; this maintains confidentiality of sensitive information • Principal completes rating form representing committee consensus, including information and recommendation at the top of the form • Form is uploaded on portal
