  1. A Beautiful Life “Each day I’ll do a golden deed By helping those who are in need; My life on earth is but a span, And so I’ll do the best I can. Life’s evening sun is sinking low; A few more days and I must go To meet the deeds that I have done, Where there will be no setting sun.” Text: Gal. 6:10

  2. Gal. 6:10 10. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. We need to do good to others, especially to other saints! Our lives are a journey, and we can either be a good influence to help others or we can choose to be a hindrance and deterrent – both will be rewarded in eternity; punishment or life! (Mt. 25:46) Intro A Beautiful Life

  3. William M. Golden (1878-1934): • “A Beautiful Life” (1918) • William M. Golden (01/28/1878-05/13/1934) wrote this hymn in 1918 from prison. • Also wrote, “To Canaan’s Land I’m On My Way” (1914) while serving an 8 year prison sentence! • This hymn reminds us: We are accountable for our actions, we need to prepare for a life beyond the physical, to be lights, and to help others in need! • Heb. 4:6-11 (4:1-5): • Heaven is the final “rest” for God’s people! • We must be “diligent” to enter! Intro The journey we take, the life we lead, must be “A Beautiful Life!” A Beautiful Life

  4. “Each day I’ll do a golden deed By helping those who are in need; My life on earth is but a span, And so I’ll do the best I can.” Lk. 9:23: Following Christ must be practiced daily and affect our daily lives (Jn. 9:4) • Js. 1:27: Daily we should be concerned about those who • are in need, and show our faith • Js. 2:18 Js. 4:13-17 (Phil. 3:20; I Pet. 2:11) 13. Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14. Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15. Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." 16. But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17. Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. Work for the Lord Every Day Because time is short, let us “redeem the time!” (Eph. 5:16) A Beautiful Life

  5. “To be a child of God each day, My light must shine along the way; I’ll sing His praise while ages roll And strive to help some troubled soul.” • I Jn. 3:1: Saints are God’s spiritual children • Rom. 8:14-17 • Mt. 5:14-16; Rom. 8:29-30: Let your lights shine! • Phil. 2:15 Phil. 2:15 15. so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, Col. 3:16: One way to do this is to sing His praises Let Your Light Shine • Js. 2:14-17; I Jn. 3:17-18: • We ought to help one another as we see need (Gal. 6:10) Saints need to be lights in the darkness, and be an influence for good! A Beautiful Life

  6. Stanza 3: “The only life that will endure Is one that’s kind and good and pure. And so for God I’ll take my stand; Each day I’ll lend a helping hand.” Stanza 4: “I’ll help someone in time of need, And journey on with rapid speed; I’ll help the sick and poor and weak, And words of kindness to them speak.” • Mt. 6:25, 33; Gal. 2:20: • Our lives are more than just our physical existence, and to have an enduring quality they must be influenced by Christ. (Mt. 25:34-40; Js. 2:1417; I Jn. 3:17-18) • Eph. 4:31-32; Col. 3:12-14: • A life that is truly influenced by Christ will be seen by kindness! Be Kindhearted to Others Eph. 4:31-32 31. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. A Beautiful Life

  7. Stanza 3: “The only life that will endure Is one that’s kind and good and pure. And so for God I’ll take my stand; Each day I’ll lend a helping hand.” Stanza 4: “I’ll help someone in time of need, And journey on with rapid speed; I’ll help the sick and poor and weak, And words of kindness to them speak.” • II Tim. 2:22; I Jn. 3:3: • Saints must live pure lives because God is pure! (Phil. 2:15; 4:8) • Rom. 1:16; II Tim. 1:8: • Such a life will also not be ashamed to take a stand for God so that it can be a help to others. (Jude 3: “Contend earnestly for the faith”) What will you leave as your legacy? Be Kindhearted to Others Mt. 6:20 20. "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; In leading lives that are “good and pure” let us also be a “helping hand” to others that they may see the love of God in us through kindness! A Beautiful Life

  8. “While going down life’s weary road, I’ll try to lift some traveler’s load; I’ll try to turn the night to day, Make flowers bloom along the way.” • Js. 2:14-18 • We can lift the traveler’s load by showing our faith in giving him what he needs • Gal. 6:2 • Saints are to help out by bearing one another’s burdens! Gal. 6:2 2. Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. Bear One Another’s Burdens I Jn. 3:17-18: We can help turn the night to day by showing our love in assisting others in need! A Beautiful Life

  9. “While going down life’s weary road, I’ll try to lift some traveler’s load; I’ll try to turn the night to day, Make flowers bloom along the way.” I Pet. 2:11-12 11. Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. 12. Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. • “I'll try” reminds us that we cannot, ourselves, solve • every problem, wipe every tear, or mend every broken • heart • Mt. 10:42; 25:37-40; Eph. 5:16 Bear One Another’s Burdens Saints ought to be “burden-bearers” and try to lighten the load of those struggling on “life’s weary road!” A Beautiful Life

  10. “Life’s evening sun is sinking low; A few more days and I must go To meet the deeds that I have done, Where there will be no setting sun.” God has eternal life planned for His people in Heaven (I Pet. 1:4; I Jn. 2:25) God’s word clearly teaches a judgment to come (Heb. 9:27), and it is clear that our actions will be called into account (II Cor. 5:10; I Pet. 1:17) For the faithful Christian, trusting in the grace of God (Eph. 2:8-9) and living a life of service to Him (I Cor. 15:58), this is not a cause for anxiety, but rather one of anticipation! (II Pet. 3:12) Conclusion Rev. 14:13 (Mt. 11:28-30) 13. And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them. A Beautiful Life

  11. To be made fit for such a wonderful dwelling place, we must strive while we journey here on this earth to have “A Beautiful Life!” The journey there is the test (like Israelites) and we must endure and be “diligent to enter that rest!” (Heb. 4:11) Don’t let unfaithfulness (disobedience) keep you from entering God’s rest! (Heb. 4:6) Do you journey (live your life) as if going “where there will be no setting sun?” (eternal home) Conclusion A Beautiful Life

  12. Hear The Gospel (Jn. 5:24; Rom. 10:17) Believe In Christ (Jn. 3:16-18; Jn. 8:24) Repent Of Sins (Lk. 13:35; Acts 2:38) Confess Christ (Mt. 10:32; Rom. 10:10) Be Baptized (Mk. 16:16; Acts 22:16) Remain Faithful (Jn. 8:31; Rev. 2:10) “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” For The Erring Child: Repent (Acts 8:22), Confess (I Jn. 1:9), Pray (Acts 8:22)
