  3. Seeing with His Hands 1. Calvin is an inquisitive boy who is interested in how all things work. 2. He cannot see the visual characteristics of objects, but he can “see” by touching things. 3. By habit, almost unconsciously, his hands will move over objects. 4. His hands move carefully and painstakingly over every inch of an object’s surface. 5. This way, he can “see” whether a crack in a surface is straight or diagonal or curved. 6. For example, he can feel a crack in the wooden box that he uses for storage.
